To prepare you for a smooth transition to university studies, the School of Engineering (SENG) has tailor-made a series of events for you. It is important that you attend ALL the events according to your type of admission (JUPAS/local, non-JUPAS/non-local).

Event details for students with an Engineering major will be informed by their program offices.

2. COLLECTION OF STUDENT CARD

Student Card will be issued to students who have completed program registration. Students should refer to the photo specifications for Student Card.

Registered students of Non-JUPAS / International / Mainland will be notified for card collection via email from late-July 2023 whilst JUPAS students will be notified from mid-August 2023.

3. ACADEMIC ADVISING (COMPULSORY)

First year students are welcome to access academic advising services from the following sessions and channels.

for students with offer confirmed by Aug 3 (Thu)
Aug 7 (Mon) 14:00-15:00 via Zoom

Aug 25 (Fri) 10:00-11:00 at LT-J
only for students who cannot attend the session on Aug 4 (Fri)
Attend one session of Academic Advising Talk from the above. Details will be sent to students through email.		 Mid-Aug (TBC)

All New Students

Orientation Talk
Aug 10 (Thu) 11:00-12:00 or 14:00-15:00 at LT-A
Students with surname starting with A-L are advised to attend the session at 11:00.
Students with surname starting with M-Z are advised to attend the session at 14:00.
Students may attend the Orientation Talk before joining the Course Registration and Advising.

Course Registration and Advising
Aug 10-11 (Thu-Fri) 10:00-17:00 at Engineering Common (Room 2580 via Lift 27/28)
Academic advisors and peer mentors will go through the course registration process with students. Students should complete the Course Registration by Aug 12, 17:30. Details available at sengreg.hkust.edu.hk.
Skipping this session might affect your study progress.

  
3. ACADEMIC ADVISING (COMPULSORY)

4. PEER MENTORING PROGRAM

Peer mentors will be assigned to each first year students. They will organize different social activities, like cultural learning and sports to help first year students adjust to the university life. Details of the activities will be notified by the peer mentors.

5. SCHOOL WELCOME AND ORIENTATION

For all new SENG first year students in undeclared plan and students of ISDN.
